welcome to my blog about food, flowers and other things that make me happy.

Friday flowers from the garden
Happy Friday! Today I’m not only celebrating that it’s Friday and weekend ahead, but also that this blog is going live! A huge step for me, and hopefully for Life of a Gardenista too.
I started the instagram account back in May and I have had so much fun creating the posts and thinking about what content to create! However, I started to feel a bit limited by the small format and the short text. What in the beginning felt like a good start and at the right ambition level, now feels a bit of a constraint.
Arancini
This second best thing with a lovely risotto is that you can make Arancini with the leftovers. Arancini means small oranges in Italian and it’s easy to understand why when you see the fried golden risotto balls.
beetroot risotto with sweet potatoes and brown butter
A lovely, creamy risotto with beetroots and sweet potatoes from my garden.
a sunny day in october
A sunny day in October in the garden. The weather is still warm and many flowers are still blossoming.
Cauliflower soup with dill flavoured brown butter
Now it’s cabbage season and I found this beautiful, locally grown head of cauliflower that made the base for this creamy soup with dill flavoured brown butter.

new autumn plants in the pots
Isn’t it just gorgeous this mini-pine called Pinus Nigra Marie Bregeon?!
the last tomatoes of the year
Now it’s time to harvest the last tomatoes of the year.
CHANTERELLES, fresh sweet corn and chicken pie
Chanterelles together with fresh corn and chicken is such a lovely combination of flavours! Here combined as a creamy filling for a savoury pie.
my new garden wear
My new favourite apron to wear out in the garden.
sourdough cinnamon buns
Today is Kanelbullens dag, the day of the cinnamon bun, in Sweden. And EVERYONE eats cinnamon buns in some format. I baked sourdough cinnamon buns for the first time, and they turned out really good!
zoodles with peanut sauce and fried halloumi
Zoodles, zucchini noodles, tossed in a divine nutty sauce and then topped with cubes of both zucchini and halloumi that I breaded and quickly fried. Then some chopped peanuts, spring onion and coriander on top of everything. Life is good!
homemade ravioli filled with chanterelles, ricotta and västerbotten cheese
It starts to feel like autumn, even though the dahlias are in bloom and there are still tomatoes and zucchini in the garden. Then it’s perfect time for homemade ravioli filled with chanterelles and cheese.
IDAFLW 2020
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF AWARENESS OF FOOD LOSS AND WASTE 2020 Today is a really, really important day with a very long and not so catchy name.
sourdough focaccia
Sourdough focaccia served with baked feta cheese and tomatoes
today’s harvest
I had totally missed that gigantic zucchini! Or maybe I should call it a zuccone?
a fragrant bunch of flowers from the garden.
melanzane alla parmigiana deconstructed
A version of the classic Italian dish, but without first making a tomato sauce and frying the aubergine. This is my lazy way of making melanzane alla parmigiana, but I must say it’s still super good!

Nyponsoppa / rosehip soup
Nyponsoppa, or rosehip soup, is a Swedish classic but even so, must of us have never tried homemade nyponsoppa. But I can really assure you that it’s totally worth the small extra effort to make it from fresh rosehips. It simple tastes so much better and richer!
